Charles Cooper initially an employee of Primrose Couper Cronin from September 1981, having previously been a solicitor in practice in Melbourne, and a partner in Primrose Couper Cronin Rudkin from 1984, made the decision in early 2007 to leave Primrose Couper Cronin Rudkin and start his own firm specialising in assisting parties entering into, during and at the end of domestic relationships. It has been Charles’ forte and area of practice since he started working in a law firm in Melbourne in the 1970’s.

In addition, the area of relationship based matters includes all areas of law including family law, property law, criminal law, domestic violence issues, taxation issues, stamp duty issues, succession law, wills, powers of attorney and just about every other sort of law because they all impact on people’s domestic relationships.

In addition, Charles had for many years practiced in the area of acting for clients against their previous solicitors in circumstances where they have been incorrectly advised and have incurred loss as a result of such advice.

The new firm will continue to act primarily in relation to relationship based matters, both prior to, during and after relationships. We will also accept instructions in relation to solicitor’s negligence issues, succession issues and general litigation matters.

It is one of our strengths that we appear as advocates on our client’s behalf in all levels of courts in Queensland and interstate where necessary. This avoids the doubling up, which we see so many times by firms who insist on engaging counsel and have a senior practitioner instructing counsel at court. In many cases there is no justification for that doubling up and increased expense for the client.

With Charles Cooper Lawyers, except, in the most unusual of circumstances, it will be a member of our firm who will be appearing on your behalf if the matter ends up in court. We are, of course, very mindful of the fact that in excess of 90% relationship based disputes are resolved without the need for a final hearing.

While Charles Cooper was a partner of Primrose Couper Cronin Rudkin he started sending out the PCCR Family Law Info Newsletter and will continue with the Charles Cooper Lawyers Family Law Info Newsletter bringing you up to date information in respect of relationship based matters, amendments to legislation, recent decisions and interesting facts relating to relationship based disputes. Those Newsletters will be posted to this website in the “News” section.
